Aloha
to the members of the Hawai`i Chamber of Commerce of Northern
California!
I’m
pleased to greet you through this premiere edition of our
e-newsletter, another way that the HCCNC works to promote
and build our community of kama`aina and kama’aina at heart.
The
HCCNC is built on the firm belief that Hawai'i is a unique
place with its own culture unlike any other state in the
nation. Rarely do you see people exclaiming, "Oh, you’re
from Illinois! So am I -- do you know..." And rarely do
you see people inviting strangers to their homes just because
they are from the same state. We believe that the aloha
spirit is strong in the Bay Area and worth perpetuating.
Like our slogan says, “Aloha is our business.”
This
is an exciting year for our organization. We’ve added members
to our board of directors, further strengthening a group
that will make major contributions to our leadership and
grow our pool of resources. Please visit our web site at
hccnc.com for a list of our board and their backgrounds.
Our
annual signature event, the University of Hawai`i Tailgate,
has steadily grown. This year’s edition will be in Reno
at the Harrah's casino and hotel on September 15. Already
this year, we’ve participated in the annual San Francisco
Cherry Blossom Festival and the Oakland Port Fest, fostering
greater awareness about our organization and welcoming new
members.
Beginning
this summer we’re launching a new initiative to make the
HCCNC the "go-to" group for any Hawaii organization looking
for information or assistance in the Bay Area. This will
range in everything from high-tech, to education, to cultural
exchanges to entertainment. Read more about this exciting
effort.
Please
continue to visit www.hccnc.com to see up coming events
and to find out about our corporate and business members.
