Aloha
to the members of the Hawai`i Chamber of Commerce of Northern
California!
Dear
Members,
I hope everyone is well and that their family and loved
ones are safe. Needless to say that the tragedy of 9/11/01
affected everyone and put many things into a new perspective.
The UH v. Reno game was postponed and the annual HCCNC Road
Warriors Tailgate event at Harrah's was cancelled as well.
The game was held the following week on 9/22, and the board
decided as a show of solidarity that the HCCNC would still
be a presence in this time of crisis. The HCCNC set-up a
small tent in the parking lot and invited one and all to
share in food and drink. T-shirts were created with the
UH and HCCNC logos and the statement "United We Stand."
The outpouring of support from the UH and Reno fans was
amazing. We had to stop sales of the shirts to the Reno
fans because we didn't have enough for the UH fans. The
profits from the shirt sales were donated to the NY relief
fund for the FDNY. The aloha spirit is strong everywhere
the HCCNC goes.
Next year we have many new events planned including a golf
tournament in conjunction with the UH. We will keep everyone
informed.
